29.12.2011 Cabinet reviews economic parameters at today`s session ![]() The cabinet assembled at the Government`s Chancellery to review the year`s economic progress and listen to the reports by Minister of Sustainable Development and Economics Vera Kobalia and Minister of Corrections and Legal Assistance, Khatuna Kalmakhelidze. Prime Minister made a brief report at the beginning of the session, saying the cabinet would assemble on December 30, to finally sum up the macro-economic data of the year, but he reported the preliminary data of the year`s macro-economic parameters. Nika Gilauri said the economic growth was very significant this year and it reached 6,5%; as for the inflation index, it was reduced from the two digits to 8,5%. Vera Kobalia hailed the economic growth in the country with 6,5%. She said the economic progress was confirmed by various international rating companies. She said Georgia was one of the two countries along with Kazakhstan, whose ratings were increased this year, while the ratings of many western countries were reduced. Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze has also delivered a summarizing report. He emphasized the most important political achievements of the government and spoke about the challenges, which the country will face in the future. Minister said the agreement about the beginning of negotiations free trade and visa free relations with the European Union, visits of the European leaders, opening of 22 diplomatic missions abroad were most significant facts of the year 2011, however, he added one of the most topical problems in the country was the lack of qualified personnel.
