Environment

One of the priority trends of stock company “Madneuli” is care for environment protection. A number of activities were performed in this field after privatization of “Madneuli”:

• On February 10, 2007, Memorandum of Understanding was concluded with the Ministry of Environment Protection, which set out environment protection measures to be implemented with in the company.

• Since November 1, 2006, Labor Security, Healthcare and Ecological Service of stock company “Madneuli” started to operate, which includes ecological section.

• In 2007 research laboratory of ecological section was established. Modern express analyzers were purchased to be applied for determination of containment of heavy metals, cyanide and sulphate ions in solutions, dustiness of ambient air. Computer equipment for cameral procession of data was installed. This complex of laboratory tools was positively evaluated by ecological experts of TUV and International Financial Corporation (IFC) as well as by the specialists of relevant units of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Natural Recourses of Georgia.

• 5,100 plants were planted on recultivation territory.

• Systematic monitoring is performed over ongoing environmental situation: laboratory analysis of the samples taken from the control points, cameral procession and systematization of results.

• Materials of environmental reports, envisaged by the legislation of Georgia are presented to the state bodies of Georgia in time.
